Surfcontrol
filtering, also known as Parental Control permits access only to web
sites within selected categories (e.g. adult, gambling, news etc.). It
can exclude all 'uncategorised' sites. A 30-day trial licence is
supplied with the router; renewal is subject to a monthly subscription
fee - included in your ongoing support with sircles.net. Once
surfcontrol is up and running on your internet connection the internet
is continually monitored for new sites appearing that are then
categorized so your router can decide if they are to be allowed or not.
We can allocate
different sites at different times so that the system can be configured
for adult use after bedtime, and also lock down permissions for
different computers throughout the house, so that everyone can be safe. |

The router also helps protect
against internal Internet abuse with its content filter which can block
specified sites according to matched keywords which you specify - i.e.
keywords within URLs (e.g. "hotmail"). You can alternatively have the
router set to only allow access to specific pre-set site - all other
sites are blocked - i.e. you can select either a
blacklist or a
whitelist. Additionally, we can
block certain functionality from being used on the web that may harm
your computer. Java/ActiveX applet downloads, cookies as well as HTML
download of specific file types (e.g. ZIP, EXE, multimedia etc.). This
all provides a deterrent to internal abuse of your Internet resources
and reinforces your local Internet user policies for all of your family.
To protect your Internet connection
from abuse or your users from unsuitable content, you can block popular
Peer-to-Peer applications, as well as Instant
Messaging software. |
