Your company domain name is your addres on the web. It is the part of your website address just before the forward slash (/) and includes a suffix at the end, such as www.resellmydomainname.com/default.aspx?g=forum where you can find advice on buying and selling domains.
When we look at the address, we can see that the domain is the part after the www. part of the address and before the first forward slash. This is an important point to note as spam sites often impersonate proper domain names by adding extra domains to supposed trusted domains such as: www.barclays.com.internetfinance.logon.bobscarwash.xyz/banking-logon-security.php where the domain has been doctored to appears as a banking domain in order to try and persuade you to enter your details. As you can see, it is the part of the URL just before the forward slash that gives the true identity of a website. When you are arriving at a webiste that you do not use regularly, it is always worth checking the URL fully in the browser address bar.
Your email address is also an example of your domain name which is typically the section of the address to the right of the @ sign.
A good email domain gives a good address which encourages people to do business with you - tom@hubs.uk is better than tom.james.2002@hotmail.com
